Dr. Alanna Gudmunson
Dr. Alanna Gudmunson is a Wyoming native, born and raised in Cheyenne. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 2025, where she pursued an equine-focused track and earned certifications in Fear Free handling and RECOVER CPR. In addition to her equine training, Dr. Gudmunson is passionate about exotic and small animal medicine and has a strong interest in research. During her studies, she conducted research on tick-borne diseases at Oklahoma State University and presented her findings at the 2023 Veterinary Scholars Symposium in Puerto Rico.
Before veterinary school, Dr. Gudmunson graduated with honors from the University of Wyoming, earning her bachelor’s degree in Animal and Veterinary Sciences (Pre-Vet option). Her undergraduate experience also took her abroad for a semester in Zanzibar, Tanzania, where she spent over three months immersed in research and cultural exploration. A highlight of her time there was conducting a month-long study of terrestrial reptiles on Chumbe Island Coral Park, identifying species and providing population estimates.
Outside of work, Dr. Gudmunson enjoys spending time in Wyoming’s great outdoors. She can often be found hiking in the mountains, fishing beaver ponds, or archery hunting in the fall. In the summer, she loves relaxing on her paddle board, while the coldest and hottest days are best spent at home enjoying a good movie with her beloved pets—a cat, a ball python, and several tiger salamanders.
Dr. Gudmunson is excited to return home to Wyoming and begin her veterinary career as part of the Casper Animal Medical Center team, where she looks forward to supporting the health and well-being of the Casper companion animal community.
